Block Interiors - Recovered
< Back
  Placeta de María Luz Morales
Carrer Comte d'Urgell, 290-296 (between Avinguda Diagonal and Carrer Buenos Aires)

Until now this was a rather uneven and disorganized area, hence the aim of this project was to ameliorate this problem and recover a high quality urban space for public use.

The three entrances to the block interior have been reconditioned and the unevenness has been mitigated through the use of ramps and adequate lighting to see the paths.

In the larger of the spaces, that which directly connects with Carrer del Comte d’Urgell, a children’s play area has been built for the under-sixes, surrounded by a protective fence. A pergola containing four benches in the shade and four in the sun has also been erected. In this part of the square there is also a fountain and several bins.

At the entrance from Avinguda Diagonal some striking red plant pots containing oleander bushes and benches have been placed alternately. All the benches bar one are facing the sun for a better vision of the space.

The vegetation consists of plants and trees that are easy to maintain: ivy to cover the walls in a green coating, parterres, and oleanders in large plant pots.
